Interview:
Is it the first time you have played in Ibiza and at the Hippy Market and
what does it mean to you playing in Ibiza and especially at the Hippy Market?

This will be our seventh trip in Ibiza to perform. I love the island! It's our fourth time performing at the wonderful Hippy Market. My band and I can't wait, we have prepared a great set for you all this year. The Hippy Market is a magic place. Full of the arts and many creative people.

How would you describe the atmosphere in the Hippy Market?
Fun, friendly and positive vibes!

Are you inspired by the hippie music of the 60ies/70ies?
Definitely, I was brought up as a hippie child with flowers in my hair. My mum was a true hippy and went to all the festivals with artists like Jimi Hendrix performing. I wish I could have been alive to see true artists like that.

What does the word hippy mean to you nowadays?
To me "Hippy" means celebrating the diversity of the world, being conscious to all cultures, the animal kingdom and our environment and working towards a brighter future for all who come after us. It means paying attention to the energy within us and around us, focusing on spreading positive vibes around the world.

Edu Egito

Hippy Market, 8th of october 2014:
Edu Egito - live at La Carpa at 14 h
Edu Egito was born in Rio de Janeiro and since 2005 has been living in Europe using Barcelona and Ibiza/Formentera as portals to take his music to Spain, Italy, France, Malta, England, Brazil, and Thailand.
Edu, a very charismatic and talented singer, composer and guitarist, is one of the best representatives of modern Brazilian music in Europe. He is passionate about music which is for him is a universal language that can reach and touch each one of us, and it is the medium he uses to communicate, to soar, and to translate his experiences and feelings into sounds, rhythms and melodies.
His musical roots come from jazz and bossa-nova which he mixes with funk, soul, latin, african, rock, afro-brazilian rhythms (afoxe, iyexa, coco, jongo), and “world music.” He has been part of groups such as Soluço (bossa-nova/jazz), Kafuné (jazz fusion), Braziloop (afro-brazilian fusion) and Mistral Akaco (carnival - party music).
In his latest album Edu gives us stunning renditions of his songs solo, in duo, and in trio. Recorded both live and with studio production, the album shows us a mature and passionate artist.
